12 countries on the football field of USUE
There was so bright and large-scale mini-football competition at USUE among foreign students. Representatives of 12 countries competed for the Rector's Cup for the first time on the site of the University sports complex.
Today, unique competitions took place on the sports field of the Ural State University of Economics — USUE international students from 12 countries met for the first time on the football field. The students came to study at our university from Egypt, Cameroon, Haiti, Afghanistan, Turkey, Morocco, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, Iraq, Syria and Angola.
40 athletes were divided into eight teams, in which they chose forwards, defenders and goalkeepers. The teams were divided into two groups, each of which had three games.
The strongest met in the final game. During the group tournament, each of the teams showed a good level of athletic training. The meeting of athletes from Egypt and Haiti turned out to be interesting . The guys actively defended their goal and created dangerous scoring chances, which made the fans who supported their friends and fellow students nervous.
As a result of the entire group tournament, the Rector Cup was awarded to the team Morocco. The second were -Afghanistan.
All athletes received certificates of participants and gifts. The guys told us that thanks to the game they received a charge of positive energy. According to the football player of the national team, Toure Drissa plans to continue playing sports after such an exciting game.
"I have been professionally involved in football since childhood, often participated in competitions. The guys from my team are also almost all good with the ball. This time, the team and I did not prepare for the tournament, but we agreed to train and actively participate in all competitions at the university in the future”.
It should be noted that football is actively developing at USUE under the leadership of coach Artem Bychkin. In 2022, the team took bronze for the first time at the Yekaterinburg Big Football Championship in the 11x11 format, and our students won the Yekaterinburg mini-football championship.
