The members of Honor and Memory search group returned from the All-Russia gathering

In Samara, III All-Russia meeting of student search groups "Soldier’s Destiny" was held. More than 150 young searchers and commanders of student search teams from 80 secondary special and higher educational institutions of Russia took part in the event. A delegation from the Sverdlovsk region included three search groups from Yekaterinburg: "Honor and Memory" (USUE), "Styx" (USPU), and "P.S.-Vozrozhdenie" (USAU).

The grand opening of the gathering took place in the interactive park "Russia is My History", where the multimedia exhibition "Names from ID Tags" was presented. After that, the participants went to Ploshchad Slavy (Glory Square) for laying flowers.

The next day, the members of search teams continued their work at Samara National Research University. The participants met with Zemfira Bikkinina, one of the founders of the student search movement in Samara. "In the mid-1980s, we decided to restore the history of the 356th Infantry Division, Reserve-Officer Training Department of our University in 1941. In 1988, we went to the first expedition to the battlefields of the division in the village of Efremovo in Belevsky district of the Tula region. And in 1989, the Samara search team took part in the first All-Soviet Union "Memory Vigil" in Myasnoy Bor, becoming a part of the search family," Zemfira Bikkinina told.

Besides, the participants of the meeting became acquainted with a new direction of the "Soldier’s Destiny" project - "Front portrait. Soldier’s Destiny." Its activists trace the fate of Fatherland defenders from different front-line portraits, kept in museums and state archives.

After that, the participants of the gathering took part in two roundtables, where they discussed the issues of student’s search movement development. An important event for students-searchers was the establishment of the coordination center of the Association of Student Search Groups under the auspices of the Search Movement of Russia.

Irina Bogdanova, commander of the Honor and Memory group notes, "The establishment of a coordination center will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the development of student search teams’ activities. The establishment of the Association of Student Search Groups was announced during the grand opening of the All-Russia action "Memory Vigil-2017" in Kaliningrad. As it seems to me, the most interesting direction of its activity is the holding of All-Russia student's Memory Vigil. The field season will give a new chance for students-searchers from all over the country to exchange hands-on experience."
