Consul General of France in Yekaterinburg Mr. Pierre-Alain Coffinier became a guest of the traditional event “Hour of Diplomat” at USUE. He told students about the history of relationship between France and Russia, political relations between the states, and cooperation between France and the Urals region.
Quoting General Charles de Gaulle, Pierre-Alain Coffinier noted, “From the time when two of our nations were born, they never stopped experiencing mutual interest to each other.” USUE Rector Yakov Silin welcomed the distinguished guest and stressed, "We hope to develop cooperation between Russia and France, as one of the leading world states with which USSR and Russia had had dozens of years of good relations."
At the meeting, students could ask the consul their questions. Future economists were worried about whether it was possible to strengthen relations between France and Russia, whether there were many French in Yekaterinburg and what they were engaged with, as well as how they used alternative energy sources in France, and how many Russian students studied in France.
