USUE flag has been in space!

During a recent meeting with USUE students, Russian cosmonaut Sergei Kud -Sverchkov and Valentin Prokopyev, a brother of cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev, director of the ANO Planetarium in Yekaterinburg, handed over to Yakov Silin, USUE rector, the flag that had been in space. Now it is stored in the USUE museum along with the pennant and chevrons of the Soyuz MS-17 crew.

This flag is tiny: its size is only 10 by 15 centimeters. As each crew member can take on board no more than one and a half kilogram of belongings, the USUE flag went into space weighing less than 200 g and having the size of half a sheet of paper. A simple thing: a piece of silk fabric with the logo of Ural State University of Economics printed. Its production took only two hours, but it made a real space trip and together with cosmonaut Sergei Kud-Sverchkov stayed in flight for 184 days, 23 hours, and 10 minutes. How many joyful emotions swept students, teachers and the rector of USUE Yakov Silin, when Valentin Prokopyev, a brother of cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev, came to the stage and brought out a glass frame with a small blue rectangle that had survived a long space journey of six months!

Russian cosmonauts handed over to the USUE museum the University flag that had traveled on board of Soyuz MS-17 spacecraft.
