In Sochi, the most significant event for restaurateurs - GASTREET International Restaurant Show – took place.
GASTREET festival is a large-scale event for the restaurant industry, which unites more and more participants every year. This time, 150 top-speakers and chefs came to Sochi. A unique educational program was in the store for the guests of the festival: about 5000 restaurateurs took part in 200 seminars, master classes, and performances.
Yana Starovoitova, director of the School of Service and Hospitality and a lecturer of the Department of Tourism Business and Hospitality, was in the community of professionals.
"For me, it all began spontaneously: I had to go to the exhibition in Chicago, but I was invited to be a co-host of the video program “Diary of Digitalizer” at GASTREET, whose main task was to interview as many Russian restaurateurs as possible," Yana Starovoitova said.
The USUE lecturer met with the organizers of the largest and most grandiose event in the restaurant business - Dmitry Levitsky and Gosha Karpenko, famous Moscow restaurateurs. She also managed to interview and exchange experience with Pavel Maslakov, a restaurateur from Yekaterinburg and the owner of the Yapona - Mama project, Vladimir Olkinitsky, the owner of the Zames project, Pavel Chikov, restaurateur and sommelier (Veliky Novgorod), and Oleg Nazarov, a restaurateurs’ coach.
All restaurateurs want to exchange experiences and wait for students taking practical training. Next year, our students will start preparing for GASTREET -2019 festival and will join volunteer teams. This year, about 150 volunteers took part in the event.
