Their achievements set an example!

USUE hosted a ceremony of presenting Letters of Appreciation to scholarship holders for the 2022-23 academic year — students who have shown outstanding abilities in educational and scientific activities.
Teachers and top university managers honored students who were awarded scholarships from the President of Russia, the Government of Russia, the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, E.G. Gaidar, N.G. Veselov and the USUE Academic Council scholarships.

Opening the awards ceremony, USUE Rector Yakov Silin noted that out of 16,000 students studying at the university, few had gained special scholarships: “One needs character, will, and most importantly, an understanding of ‘why I need this.’ I hope you will continue to take part in the university life, defend your candidate’s and doctoral dissertations. And one day I will welcome you within these walls as fellow teachers. And your achievements will set an example for your children and students.”

After the ceremony, students and teachers continued to communicate informally.

The participants of the ceremony believe that honoring scholarship holders is something that can make the eyes of freshers shine. They held the ceremony at the university for the first time, but, from accounts, it may become a wonderful tradition in the future. Three students—master’s students Dmitry Melnikov and Pavel Letov and a postgraduate Mikhail Kombarov — were awarded three scholarships at once. Twelve students received two scholarships each. Altogether, 38 USUE students became scholarship holders this academic year.
