Who is the strongest chess player at USUE?

Our congratulations to the students of the USUE Institute of Management, Entrepreneurship and Engineering on winning the USUE chess Spartakiad!   

We congratulate the students of the Institute of Management, Entrepreneurship and Engineering of Ural State University of Economics with a victory in the USUE chess Spartakiad! The participants of this sports event were the teams of USUE Institutes, College, and international students.

Each team was of 4 players, different-year University students, including chess masters and chess candidate masters. It was a round-robin tournament, i.e. each participant faced all other players from other teams. The USUE College students had an advantage: on the first board, its student Leya Garifullina, chess master and world blitz champion among girls under 14 and classical chess champion among girls under 16, was awarded first place. The tournament was traditionally judged by the international grandmaster, four-time chess champion of the RSFSR, Lyudmila Saunina

Summarizing the results of the Spartakiad, the students of the Institute of Management, Entrepreneurship and Engineering won first prize, the students of the Institute of Digital Management Technologies and Information Security placed second, the College placed third, the team of the Institute of Public and Municipal Administration and Law placed fifth, and the team of international students - sixth.      

In December 2021, the strongest USUE chess players will participate in the Spartakiad of the Leninsky District of Yekaterinburg. In March 2022, USUE plans to host the chess Universiade of the Sverdlovsk Region, and a little later, in April, within the XII Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, the University will host a traditional rapid chess tournament - "Ural Chess Queen."
