Is it easy to make a dumpling?

Young people from China, Africa, Latin America, Central Asia, and Arab countries competed in the art of making Russian dumplings. On the eve of Around the World festival of cultures, the Lepim-Varim (Making&Cooking) culinary battle was held at Ural State University of Economics with the participation of representatives of the Association of International Students. 

The event took place in the laboratories of the Department of Food Technology; 5 teams of foreign students from different USUE institutes and different years of study became its participants. Before starting the competition, Ilya Karzhavin, an engineer from that Department, held a master class on shaping dumplings and, of course, talked about the history of the dish, which is considered traditional for Russian cuisine. Ilya Karzhavin showed how to make dough and filling and how to combine them in correct proportions. After getting acquainted with the history of the popular dish, the students started making dumplings. Each team had the same set of products and time for cooking. A team of experts watched the culinary battle.

The members of the team, whose dumplings turned out to be the most sightly and delicious, will be awarded at the opening ceremony of Around the World festival of cultures.
