Any problem should be solved together

September 21, Ural State University of Economics opened the Students' Club for People with Disabilities "We Are Together". The opening of the club took place within the framework of a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The idea was born in the USUE Association of Student Unions and the Department for Youth Policy.

At the opening of the club, it was welcomed by the USUE Rector  Yakov Silin,  chair of the public organization "Russian Club" Olga Smetanina, and director of the charity fund "Children of Russia" Julia Nutenko.

Yakov Silin urged club members to share problems and actively communicate with each other: "We know that we all have some problems, peculiarities, or requests but everyone has his/her own. In the University, there are those who have health problems. At the moment, we are aware of 119 students who have health problems. In some situations, they need a special approach to studying, and I would like teachers understand this. I want you to be sure that the University will provide you all the necessary assistance. Thanks to your ideas the University facilities are being improved. It is important for us to hear your proposals and create comfortable conditions for everybody."

Julia Nutenko noted the importance of the work done at the University, "Being the university successful in education, it is important not to forget the social responsibility." Yulia Vladimirovna stressed the significance of the development of the volunteer movement and commenting the choice of name for the club, she said that "any problem should be solved together."

At the first meeting of the club "We Are Together", the speeches were made by the Vice-Rector for Social Work Roman Krasnov, the head of Office for Sports and Health Promotion Maxim Kocheryan, the Chairman of the student trade Union Georgy Kotlyarov, director of the Recreation Center Ekaterina Butakova, and a specialist of the Office of Social Work Lyudmila Egovtseva. Each spoke about the opportunities for development within the walls of the University, participation in creative and sports groups and the opportunity to get support at the University.

Until the end of the year, the project will implement a number of activities aimed at improving the quality of life of people with disabilities. These include master classes on the technology of communication for volunteers by professional psychologists of the Sverdlovsk Regional Medical College, a regional championship "Abilimpics" in programming, judo tournament, specialized sports groups for tennis, badminton, climbing, and judo, as well as a number of business meetings and cultural events. It should be noted that a special tatami mat was purchased specially for the judo tournament and for the group of this kind of martial arts.
