Interregional cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan was discussed in Chelyabinsk

August 2, 2017, the first meeting of the international working group of representatives of nationalities of border regions of Russia and Kazakhstan was held at the South Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, initiated by the Eurasian Commonwealth Fund for Social and Economic Development with the support of the Government and the Agency for International Cooperation of the Chelyabinsk region.

During the meeting, the idea was voiced that over the past 26 years, Russia and Kazakhstan have gained considerable experience of partnership in economic, military-political and humanitarian spheres, and have formed institutional mechanisms for cooperation. Bilateral agreements and commercial contracts have been signed with Kazakh partners, which implementation will make regional cooperation practice-oriented. The most active role in the expansion of cooperation is played by the territorial entities of the Russian Federation and the Akimats of Kazakhstan.

The participants of the meeting stressed that an international working group aims to become an efficient tool for non-governmental cooperation. It is this form of interaction that, gathering representatives of business, government, education, national-cultural associations and national diasporas at one table, can promptly cater to society's needs and respond to them as quickly as possible.

Following the results of the first meeting of the international working group, a final resolution was adopted. It emphasized the importance of non-governmental cooperation in the socio-political, educational and socio-cultural environment for the benefit of a human comfort in the interests of all ethnic border areas of Russia and Kazakhstan. The resolution will be sent to authorities and public organizations. Next meeting of the working group is scheduled for the second half of September. It will present to the public the reference book "National Diasporas of the Southern Urals and Border Areas".
