Mongolian buuzes, Chinese pork and African chicken: Foreign students have prepared national dishes

Ural State University of Economics continues to study cultural traditions of different nations at the festival "Around the World in 7 Days". From 22 to 24 November, students from China, Mongolia, Africa, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan cook authentic dishes that all participants in the culinary master classes will be able to taste.

November 22, the students cooked Mongolian buuzes. The dish consists of beef, onion, and dough. "Buuzes are very similar to dumplings, but the technology is different. This is a national Mongolian dish. It is usually cooked on New Year according to the lunar calendar. For this holiday each family makes around 500-600 buuzes because you have to feed all the guests," one of the young chefs said.

Nearby, a Chinese student cut pork, rolled it in starch and deep-fried. "Three brothers of Chinese cuisine are ginger, garlic, and onions, we add them to many dishes," she added.

November 23, students from Cote d’Ivoire introduced the guests of a culinary master class to the national dish kédjénou, "Usually, everything we eat is very spicy but today there is only one chili in the dish – just for decoration. Now we will treat you with chicken with rice and vegetable puree." During the cooking, they talked about their country, traditions, and population.

November 24, there will be a master class of oriental cuisine.

We would like to remind that, a large-scale festival of cultures "Around the World in 7 Days" is held at Ural State University of Economics from November 20 to 25. Officially, the festival began with an exhibition of nations. Students from 15 countries showed folk attributes: holiday arrays and musical instruments, books, and told about art, crafts, and customs. Together with USUE students, students of Ural State Medical University, Ural Federal University, and other educational institutions danced lezghinka and listened to drumming.
