On equal footing with grandmasters: the first sets of medals «Ural Chess Festival-2017» have been awarded

August 7, at Ural State University of Economics first sets of «Ural Chess Festival — 2017» medals were awarded. During the week in nine rounds of competitions, 150 people fought in chess fields for the title of the best.

That day, the results of the Sverdlovsk Region Cup stage among girls and boys under 10 and 13 years old, as well as the results of the regional chess tournament among boys and girls under 19 years were summed up.

Before the awards ceremony, Vice-president of the regional public organization «Chess Federation of the Sverdlovsk region» Albert Stepanyan thanked the organizers and paid tribute to the participants, «Today, we reward the best. I would like to thank this friendly University and everyone who helped in conducting the competition.» Albert Stepanyan together with the chief judge of the competition Vladimir Komissarov and President of the Club of the Sverdlovsk regional public organization Chess Club «Ural» Boris Fradkin presented awards. The judges of the competitions noted that many participants played on equal footing with international grandmasters.

The first award was given to the youngest participant — a five-year Sofya Nersesyan (Yekaterinburg).
