New trends: Cambridge professor introduced USUE students to exchange economy

December 4, students of Ural State University of Economics learned about the exchange economy through the example of foreign countries. The lecture was delivered by Professor of the Prague Business School, researcher at the University of Cambridge, Professor of the North Caucasus Federal University and Moscow Power Engineering Institute, director of the Prague Institute for Advanced Training Wadim Strielkowski.

"This topic is connected with new trends in the economy. If you think about it, the exchange economy existed long before. Now it is developing thanks to new technologies (artificial intelligence, social networking, Internet) and openness of clients and potential customers,"  Wadim Strielkowski said.

He noted that the exchange economy is based mainly on social networks. The professor described how a personal advertising is built, what mechanisms are used abroad, and gave some examples of companies that were engaged in analyzing a huge amount of data to attract buyers.

In addition, students learned how social networks help robbers to carry out their illegal activities. "A residential-type burglar joins you in Vkontakte and browses pictures you publish there.  He sees that you are in the Maldives, relaxing away from home, and he goes to rob you," Wadim Strielkowski says.

It should be noted, that today at the meeting of Academic Council, Wadim Strielkowski was awarded a diploma and a certificate of USUE Honorary Professor.
