Yakov Silin: «The task of the University is to create conditions for active life and efficient study of students»

July 22, the Admissions Committee of Ural State University of Economics held an Open Day for entrants and their parents. Questions of University guests were answered in person and in online mode by Rector Yakov Silin, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs >Sergey Rogozhin, and the head of Admission and Pre-university Training Department Irina Martyanova.

Irina Martyanova told all those present about important for applicants-2017 dates:

July 26, at 16:30 is the deadline in the whole country for submitting applications for state-funded places. In August, the receipt of applications for fee-paying places will continue.

July 27 by 12:00, the lists of applicants for state-funded places will be published. These lists will not be amended and supplemented. The Lists will contain information on the number of USE points, information on additional points for individual achievements, and information on the right of preferential enrollment and information on the submitting originals or copies of education certificates.

The first stage of enrollment to full-time training (state-funded) is 29 July. On this day, orders are issued to enroll applicants within the special quota and within the quota of the target admission.

August 1 at 18:00 is the deadline for reception of original documents for state-funded places.

August 3 is the main (second) stage of enrollment to full-time state-funded training. On this day, 80% are enrolled among those who submitted original documents.

During the third stage, August 8, the enrollment will be held for the remaining 20% places among those who filed original documents (deadline for submission of originals is 6 August by 18:00).

Enrollment for extramural programs will be held on August 18 at 16:00. Irina Martyanova noted that those who did not pass to full-time state-funded places could take part in the competition for extramural programs in the selected areas of training. In this case, one must apply for extramural education. The deadline for submitting documents for extramural state-funded places is July 31.

Enrollment for Master's programs will be held on August 17, documents should be submitted by 5 August.

Yakov Silin told all those present about studying in the college, about international relations of the University and support for students. Answering the questions, the Rector noted that students from 32 countries of the world study at Ural State University of Economics , emphasized the importance of studying foreign languages ??(at the University there are opportunities for students to study six languages) and stressed that communication with speakers of another language not only helps broaden the horizon and share culture but also to acquire international relations. The conversation turned to the possibility for USUE students to participate in the double degree program and to undergo an internship in foreign partner universities.

Parents asked questions related to employment. USUE closely cooperates with the Yekaterinburg Employment Center and the HR services of enterprises and organizations.Regularly the University holds job fairs  involving more than 30 large companies.

From the Rector’s answers, the guests learned about the ongoing support of active students: "The task of the University is to do the groundwork for active and efficient studies of students. We do have and will always have money for the incentive of active students (science, sport, creativity)." The Rector paid special attention to the information that students studying under the contract, after two successfully passed exam sessions, can apply for transfer to vacant state-funded places even if they major in economics.

Future students and their parents found out during the meeting that there are now renovations in dormitories located in ul. Umelttsev, and  next to the dormitories an open-air ground of ASSC Russia is being constructed and USUE sports complex is being reconstructed and re-equipped to allow students to engage in any of 23 sports. Yakov Silin also spokeabout the recent visit of 12th  chess champion Anatoly Karpov to the University.

Questions to the Admission Committee came online from different cities of Russia and CIS countries.In the broadcast participated Yakutsk, Tyumen, Kirov and Chelyabinsk regions, Krivoy Rog (Ukraine), and others.
