One in the field - a warrior, too: in USUE held a meeting with heroes of the Russian Federation
University students from Yekaterinburg met with Heroes of the Russian Federation from different cities of Russia at Ural State University of Economics.
The participants of the meeting were the 112th Russian cosmonaut Anatoly Ivanishin, Colonel of the Airborne Forces Alexander Cherepanov , a civil aviation pilot Vladimir Sharpatov , Hero of Socialist Labor Anatoly Korolev as well as participants in wars and local conflicts in Chechnya, Dagestan, and South Ossetia Oleg Kaskov, Sergey Mylnikov, Serik Sultangabiev, and Sergey Voronin .
For two years, many a time they took part in the national project “Heroes Are among Us”, which has been implemented at USUE since 2016. At the beginning of the new academic year, the University management invited the heroes to thank them for the active cooperation with the University and to start a new cycle of the project.
“We are proud that in our country there were, there are and there will be people who set the pace for society. In an hour of need, they defended our state. Today, with their feat, they confirm the greatness of our state,” Yakov Silin, USUE rector, greeted the audience.
Danila Trubinov, Chief Federal Inspector for Sverdlovsk region of the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian President in the Ural Federal District, noted the urgency of the topic of patriotism for our country and society. “Today, you, students, have the opportunity to meet not the superheroes you see in movies, but real people who live and work in our country,” he said.
The heroes described the students some facts of their biography: childhood, school, military daily routine. They described the specific features of the service in the Armed Forces, touched upon the themes of the Great Patriotic War, military campaigns in Afghanistan, Chechnya, and South Ossetia.
“People remain the main wealth of our country. You are our future! Today’s meeting with the Heroes of the Russian Federation is the very stimulus that confirms that the future of the whole country depends on you,” said Olga Glatskykh, director of the Youth Policy Department of the Sverdlovsk region.
