During a videoconference, representatives of Ural State University of Economics and employees of the Sri Lanka University of Vavuniya discussed further cooperation in educational and scientific areas of economics, international business and management.

The main moderator from Ural State University of Economics was the Vice-rector for Social Work and Youth Policy Roman Krasnov. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sri Lanka, Ms. Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage.

In her welcoming speech, Ms. Liyanage outlined the interest of the Republic of Sri Lanka in Russian universities and higher education: “I am glad to see all the participants of the discussion. I am sure that each party will get the maximum benefit from cooperation in areas of mutual interest, because USUE has a lot in common with the University of Vavuniya in such areas as economics, finance, and management. Therefore, the newly established University of Vavuniya will gain a lot from this cooperation.”

Roman Krasnov reminded the participants of the meeting that in April 2022, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sri Lanka Janitha A. Liyanage was present at the XII Eurasian Economic Youth Forum: “Thank you for your attention to our university and for your support after XII EEYF, I would like to emphasize that seven students from the Republic of Sri Lanka are studying at USUE today. I would like to note that five years ago, USUE set a course for expanded cooperation with universities from Asia: China, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Thailand. And we are glad to successfully cooperate with Sri Lankan universities.”

The parties agreed that Ural State University of Economics would provide the partners with their presentation of the university and a draft agreement with the University of Vavuniya.
