Victory important for everyone
A graduate of USUE College, famous chess player Leya Garifullina became the women’s Russian blitz champion. This victory is a further proof that the level of chess sports in the Sverdlovsk region is growing.
According to the director of the Chess Federation of the Sverdlovsk region, Albert Stepanyan, the start of the tournament was not a success for Leya Garifullina - she lost. However, the girl called up all her strength and successfully completed the blitz game. Her result was excellent: she scored 10.5 points out of 13 possible.
Leya Garifullina is a student of the Ural Chess Academy and A.E. Karpov Grandmaster Center. She received significant support for her sports career at Ural State University of Economics. In 2019, she achieved a female grandmaster norm three times, and two years later, she scored the norm of a male international master.
