March 29, the roundtable "Practice of Project Management: Difficulties and Prospects" was held at USUE.
The event was attended by N.V. Kamenskaya, director of the Project Management Department under the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region and the Government of the Sverdlovsk region, Yu. Kim, director of the Center for Evaluation and Development of Project Management (Moscow), V. Polkovnikov, head of the distance learning center at “Proektnaya Praktika” (PM Practice) group of companies (Moscow), heads of project offices of large and medium-sized enterprises in Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region.
The meeting discussed the issues of introduction and development of project management in organizations, the role of professional standards in developing the competencies of specialists and project managers. Besides, they considered the adaptation of standards to practice, organization of the functioning of project offices, and formation of corporate methodology for project management.
The sharing experiences resulted in revealing of several important trends in the development of project management practice: focus on the behavioral competencies of project managers, the need to manage the value of the project and expectations of stakeholders, expansion of the project management context, and integration of operating and project activities.
