A Russian university degree is the key to success abroad
Diplomatic representatives of Burundi and Burkina Faso gave a public lecture. The main topic of conversation with students was the prospects to form Eurasian scientific and educational space.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Burundi to the Russian Federation, Joseph Nkurunziza, said that about three thousand students from Burundi had already received education at Russian universities.
“Professors and teachers from universities in Russia and Burundi are working on joint research. I also received an education in a Russian - Burundian educational organization,” the diplomat noted.
According to the Ambassador, about three hundred young citizens of Burundi are studying at Russian universities. Every year, about one hundred applicants from the East African republic receive invitations to all levels of higher education – bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate studies.
“It is very important that our youth receive a truly high-quality education. Unfortunately, in some private universities in my homeland, students studying IT almost never use a computer. Russia has developed the areas of higher education that we need, and holders of your universities’ degrees are welcome at home. I also urge decision makers in the Russian academic world and friends present here on the forum to maintain constant contacts with their former students who returned to their native countries and especially to Africa. They will be happy to participate in establishing friendship between our states and share their achievements,” Joseph Nkurunziza said.
Attaché for Culture and Education of the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Russia, Timbkieta Sawadogo noted in his speech that Eurasian integration could bring dividends to all its participants if they create a viable union and implement common strategic goals. In particular, this is a combination of interests in foreign policy, the creation of a customs union with the easy movement of people and goods, solidarity in economic reforms, and improving the living standards of the population. The sphere of scientific and educational cooperation in the EAEU also has great potential.
“This allows us to establish multi-level cooperation, combine research and development, and promote academic mobility. Russia is the driving force in this matter, and Burkina Faso is firmly committed to strengthening relations between our states. Successful integration into the EAEU contributes to strengthening the world multipolarity and will further inspire Africa to build its unity,” Mr. Sawadogo emphasized.
USUE international students asked the diplomatic officials what opportunities they see for the youth of their countries to work in Russia.
“Having received an education at a Russian university, you must return to your homeland and contribute to its development. Brilliant prospects will open up for you both at government agencies and in private business,” the diplomat emphasized.
Timbkieta Sawadogo added that if foreign students decided to stay and work in Russia, the competition would be much tougher, and only the most talented would achieve success in Russia.
Public lectures by foreign diplomats are a new format of the event organized by Ural State University of Economics as part of the XIV Eurasian Economic Youth Forum.
