We keep our finger on the pulse: Council on Youth Education continues its work

Today Ural State University of Economics held a regular meeting of the Council on Youth Education.

One of the main issues of the meeting was the participation of students in the regional stage of the World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS). The guests of the meeting discussed some nuances of the cultural and entertainment program. It is expected that this Saturday the Yeltsin Center will gather students from all over the region (including foreign students from 33 countries who have arrived by exchange) to participate in a direct teleconference with Sochi, where the official opening ceremony of the grand event will take place. Youth Festival will be visited by the Governor of Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev and consuls from different countries.

The discussion of the agenda was joined by an official of the Ministry of Education of Sverdlovsk Oblast, vice-rectors for social work of Yekaterinburg universities, the chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Youth Union, Deputy Chairman of Students Union of Ural Federal University, and others.

One of the WFYS regional events will be a Round Dance of Friendship. On the square in front of Ural Federal University, 4000 students will join hands to line up in a symbol of the festival — a daisy. The members of the Council particularly focused on the safety of young people during this mass flashmob. They proposed additional measures to promote students’ protection.

If the world festival is still to come, some city and all-Russian events have already been successfully held. For example, the head of the USPU Department of Social and Educational Work Vladislav Sereda during the Council meeting summed up the September parade of students. We would like to remind that 4000 students of Yekaterinburg including more than 250 USUE students attended the All-Russian action. All in all, first-year students from 40 Russian cities participated in the parade.

At the meeting, they discussed sports and creative achievements of Yekaterinburg students. In the near future, the youth of the city will be able to show themselves in inter-university mind and athletic tournaments. The Council on Youth Education will continue active work on the development of student initiatives.
