Sweet dream

A USUE graduate - 2023 set up her own business for the production of wholesome desserts.

Alina Yershova is a graduate of the USUE Institute of Management, Entrepreneurship and Engineering. She completed her bachelor’s degree this year and has already applied for admission to the master’s program. For six years, the girl has been developing recipes for low-calorie confectionery products rich in nutrients. Defending her thesis, she presented marshmallow with bifidobacteria and prebiotics to the exam board. Such a dessert does not make you fat and helps improve digestion.

“I started making sweeties when I was in high school. At first, I treated my parents to my sweeties, then I brought them to school. The first buyers were my classmates,” Alina says. “When you are a confectioner, you want to taste everything yourself and you cannot help doing it. But I was keeping my figure, so I started experimenting with sweeteners: I developed a special recipe so that the products were just as tasty, but contained fewer calories and were even healthy.”

The girl admitted she had dreams of her own small confectionery, as in the movie Chocolate with Johnny Depp. She already registered herself as self-employed and, as of now, she runs her shop from her home kitchen.. Alina's cakes and gateau are popular among athletes, individuals with diabetes, and those who desire to stay in shape but don't want to entirely give up desserts..

In parallel, Alina works for one confectionery in Yekaterinburg.

“Alina is really very talented,” Vladimir Lazarev, acting head of the USUE Department of Food Engineering, says. “My colleagues and I wish her success and we will be glad to see her again within the walls of our university already as a student at the Institute of Master’s Studies.”

During her studies at USUE, Alina Yershova was a holder of scholarships granted by the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region and the President of the Russian Federation, repeatedly took part in the Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, and was recognized as a “Graduate of the Year 2023” for her academic achievements.
