Union between sanctuaries of knowledge and church
February 15, the signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement between the USUE rector Yakov Silin and Metropolitan Evgeny of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye took place.
The ties of a long-term friendship between the University and the Diocese were sealed by USUE rector Yakov Silin and Metropolitan Evgeny of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye, Bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, head of the Yekaterinburg Metropolis, head of the Synodal Department for Religious Education and Catechism. The agreement states that mutual assistance should be carried out within science, education, and upbringing.
“We have been exchanging experience and knowledge with Metropolis for a long time. However, still we have to move forward together, helping each other, because education and religion are connected,” says the rector of Ural State University of Economics, Yakov Silin.
This agreement is aimed at student mindset formation. As University and church leaders think, this requires permanent development of spiritual and moral values and traditional cultivation of patriotism.
“I have no doubt that wise people meet to learn more from each other. The agreement signed today just gives an opportunity for creative students, their teachers, and priests to meet,” Metropolitan Evgeny says.
This agreement is an open-ended one. The. University and Diocese will annually generalize the results of their cooperation and share their positive work experience with colleagues.
