During the lecture, the minister highlighted the important topic for the residents of Yekaterinburg about the city's participation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The sports sphere is among the top three, trailing only the sale of arms and oil in the volume of financial turnover. When preparing Yekaterinburg to participate in the World Cup-2018, the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk region faced a large number of high requirements to infrastructure, security, comfort, the capacity of the main stadium, and the availability of training grounds. Currently, Yekaterinburg meets the requirements of the World Cup by many criteria.

Leonid Rapoport noted that the Sverdlovsk region was actively and for long preparing high-level athletes. In our region, masters of sports of Russia train in 91 sports.

If we talk about football, it can be called the most popular sport in the Sverdlovsk region, so preparing both the Central Stadium and training grounds at the stadiums "Ural", "Kalininets" and "Himmash" will leave its mark. In addition to the preparation of football grounds, these stadiums actively develop infrastructure and modernize other training zones.

According to the minister, now there is an active work with the media, preparation of the fan zone, and the city is ready to host a large number of guests. Special attention is paid to the training of volunteers, police officers, and taxi drivers. The organizers of the World Championship put forward stringent requirements to the participating cities, stages, and terms of preparation, and the Sverdlovsk Region fits them.

After the lecture, Leonid Rapoport answered the students' questions, invited them to cooperate closely with the Ministry while undergoing internship, writing course and diploma papers, and expressed hope that some students will come to work at the Ministry.
