Sergei Melkozerov is the bronze medalist of the Youth Volleyball World Championship 2017

From June 23 to July 3, 2017, Brno (Czech Republic) hosted the youth world volleyball championship among men's teams in the U-21 age category. A student of Ural State University of Economics Sergey Melkozerov was a member of the Russian national team.

At the first stage, the Russian team downed Cuba, Turkey, and the United States by the same score 3:0. In the second stage, the teams of Argentina and Canada were defeated (both 3: 1), as well as the Brazilian national team (3:2).

In the semifinals, the Russians again met with the Cuba players. This time, the Cubans managed to take revenge for the defeat at the start of the tournament - 3: 1. In the match for third place, the Russian team was again stronger than Brazil - 3: 0. In the final, Cuba lost to Poland with the score 0: 3.

The Department for the Development of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Yekaterinburg Administration nominated Sergey as the best sportsman of the Ural capital for the high results in sports, popularization of sports and healthy lifestyle, and participation in international competitions. In online Internet voting, the USUE student won the greatest number of votes, made into the final of the competition and won the award "The Best Sportsman of Yekaterinburg".

Awarding of the winners took place on August 10, 2017, at the solemn reception arranged by the head of the Yekaterinburg Administration, dedicated to the Russian Day of the Athlete.

С 23 июня по 3 июля 2017 года в г. Брно (Чехия) прошел молодежный чемпионат мира по волейболу среди мужских команд в возрастной категории U-21. В состав сборной России вошел студент УрГЭУ Сергей Мелкозеров (группа КЭ-15-1).
