The strategy is not the choice of one road to victory, but the creation of conditions to make all the roads lead to it

January 27, the staff of the USUE Department of Labor Economics and HR Management held a strategic session, which was devoted to the development of the department’s strategy.

The acting chair of the department Ruslan Dolzhenko said, "It should be recognized that such strategic sessions have already become a common phenomenon for business. The session showed that universities could successfully use the progressive practices. It is significant that the core staff of the department, as well as most part-time practitioners, representatives of employers, whose participation enabled us to formulate a comprehensive vision of the further development of our department, took part in this event. "

Holding business games and trainings, the department staff revised their values ??and goals, conducted an audit of the resources that the team possesses, formulated a vision and mission, worked out key areas of activity, and outlined plans for the future. Besides, they identified the tasks to help implement the vision presented.

The mission of the Department of Labor Economics and HR Management was formulated as follows: formation and development of professional potential in the field of labor economics and personnel management at the regional, national and international levels.

As a result of the event, the wording of the strategy is being prepared, as well as an action plan for the current year, which includes such promising areas as the development of online courses, creation of an HR school for entrants, promotion of the scientific school of the department, establishing of scientific laboratories for its key research areas, opening of specialized departments in cooperation with partner employers, optimization of curricula taking into account business needs, etc.

In the near future, the staff of the department is scheduled to address students training in Personnel Management in order to translate them a vision of the future of the department and to reflect the role that students play in the implementation of its strategy.

The moderators of the event were the practicing business coaches of the department Anastasia Pesha and Olga Koropets. They formulated methodological approaches to the conduct of such events, taking into account the specifics of work at the university. As the head of the Office for USUE Human Resources Svetlana Dolzhenko, one of the organizers of the strategic session, noted “this experience needs to be scaled up: similar projects can be implemented in any other structural subdivision of USUE to work out its strategy and motivate employees to implement it in the future."
