USUE in the “bronze league”

RUR (Round University Ranking) Subject Rankings have been published. They evaluate the performance of higher education institutions around the world. In 2022, USUE fell into two subject fields at once - Social Sciences and Technical Sciences.

For 12 years, 1150 universities from 85 countries of the world have taken part in the RUR ranking. Each educational institution is evaluated by 20 indicators representing four main areas: Teaching, Research, International Diversity, and Financial Sustainability of a university.

The RUR Subject Rankings cover six broad subject areas: Humanities, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, and Social Sciences. It is in the last two categories that USUE strengthened its position in the outgoing year.

In Social Sciences, Ural State University of Economics entered the top 5% of universities in the world, and in Russia it took 57th position.

In Technical Sciences, the university ranked 661 in the world and 41 in Russia. Compared to the previous year’s RUR-2021, the university has improved its position among the country’s universities, rising ten points from 51st place.

Victor Blaginin, head of the USUE Office of Scientometrics, Research and Ratings noted: “Though USUE is a narrow-focused university, we are developing our technical area from year to year, and this is bearing fruit Achievements in technical sciences are easier to turn into a commercial product. Peer-reviewed journals also pay more attention to technical issues. Therefore, we keep in line with the general trend and even entered the so-called ‘bronze league’ - the TOP-500 universities in the world in this area.”

The RUR rankings accumulate up-to-date information about global higher education. Currently, the ranking program covers 1032 universities.
