USUE IS BEING COMPLETELY RENOVATED BY THE BEGINNING OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR

We have already told you that USUE is restoring the facade of the historical building of the second academic block. Renovation works are also underway inside the University, and at an accelerated tempo. Classrooms, department offices, staff offices, and corridors are being transformed.

Thus, in the course of preparing the University training aids supply, by the beginning of the academic year, 4 auditoriums and supervises’ premises have been repaired in the USUE main academic building.
None the less changes are in the second academic building. Renovation works have been underway since January. Auditorium No. 101 was converted into a recording studio. On the second, third, fifth, and sixth floors, 9 offices of departments and classrooms were repaired, and auxiliary premises were turned into a new classroom No. 612 for the Department of Foreign Languages. The repairs in the office of the student trade union committee are coming to an end; next in turn to be repaired are large classrooms No. 606 and 608. Perhaps, by the end of the year, it will be possible to repair two more classrooms on the first floor.

The House of Culture is currently being renovated. Workers are repairing two premises: a room for rehearsals and storage of musical instruments and a wardrobe department. The works to be done are great: it is necessary to replace the ventilation, to make a soundproofing system so that the musicians' rehearsals do not interfere with the events in the auditorium.
Shortly, new furniture will be purchased for the Testing Center for Foreign Citizens and three windows will be replaced with double-pane glasses.
Every year, students' dormitories are regularly repaired. Today, the soft roof of the passage between dormitories on Umeltsev Street is being repaired. In a dormitory on Shchors street, perimeter fencing was installed. One of the 20 planned rooms and the entrance porch have been renovated. There were electronic auctions for the purchase of 22 sets of beds, mattresses, and 1000 pieces of bed linen, which will also be delivered to dormitories.

In the context of measures preventing the spread of coronavirus, USUE purchased 20 bactericidal irradiators. Lamps were installed in all buildings of the University, in dormitories and in the canteen. Besides, they purchased 10 dispensers for hand sanitizers. At the entrance to the University, a thermal imaging camera was installed for contactless automatic body temperature measurement of employees.

Thus, since the beginning of 2020, 1755 sq. m of all areas were repaired amounted to about 1 million 200 thousand rubles. This is 94% of the planned volume of repairs for the year and 66% of the funds that were planned to be spent. Savings in funds were achieved due to the minimum involvement of third-party organizations and the implementation of repair works by the personnel of the USUE Department of Administrative and Maintenance Works.
