Welcoming the participants and guests, USUE Rector, first Vice-President of ENIICH Yakov Silin noted the special role of the Institute of Man in University activities,

“The Eurasian Research Institute of Man acts as an open department, as a tribune for unique people who have achieved recognition and excellence in various fields. Here, the most complicated problems of mankind and an individual are discussed; sometimes-contradictory reports are delivered, polar points of view are opposed, and hot discussions are unfolded. All this testifies one thing: it gathers people who are interested to make our life better. Our Institute is in demand, the number of participants is growing, and its professional staff is expanding. I would like to make the initiative of discussion of human and society problems spread to other cities in Russia.

USUE Rector addressed the words of gratitude to the ENIICH President - Academician of Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Chereshnev.

In his turn, addressing the participants of the meeting, Valery Chereshnev made a short excursus to the story. He recalled that the current Institute of Man grew out of the union of the creative intelligentsia - Scientist Club, which was born 18 years ago and held its meetings at the Botanical Garden of Yekaterinburg. For the first enthusiasts, this place was a landmark: inevitable natural changes are consonant with positive changes, internal growth of each person.

He also stressed that throughout the years of the EIICH existence the topics discussed set aside neither scientific community nor representatives of politics, clergy, and culture.

Best remembered were eloquent speeches of the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk region Lyudmila Babushkina, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Sverdlovsk region Tatyana Merzlyakova, and His Grace Vikenty. Finally, Valery Chereshnev gave the audience a practical advice: to make forecast concerning the future of mankind on a scientific basis - this will help to avoid utopianism.

The chairman of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of RAS Valery Charushin noted that the Institute of Man has future, because the number of people trying to answer the most complex and global questions of time is constantly growing. According to him, ENIICH is a voluntary creative union that unites economists, historians, doctors and people from other spheres and therefore it is not threatened by any restructuring.
