URAL UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES CONTINUE ADMISSION OF APPLICANTS

USUE Vice-Rector for Research Elena Dvoryadkina took part in the TASS traditional press conference devoted to the results of admission of applicants to universities of the Sverdlovsk region in 2019.

She presented the data of the admission campaign of Ural State University of Economics.

USEU enrolled 4277 students, including 3491 for bachelor’s programs (1224 full-time), 349 for master’s programs, 11 to the post-graduate school, and 426 to the college.

The number of state-funded places for all forms of training amounted to 478. There was a redistribution of these places compared to the last year: their number increased in areas of training related to information technologies and engineering.

Elena Dvoryadkina named the most popular training areas among applicants of USUE: Computer Science and Computer Engineering, Applied Informatics, Software and Administration of Information Systems, and Technological Machines and Equipment.

A third of all applicants who entered full-time studies have chosen specialties that are somehow related to information technologies, which is not surprising in the context of digitalization development.

Compared to the last year, the USE grade point average for applicants entering USUE has also increased: this year it was 65 points, while in 2018 it was 62.9. Moreover, in certain areas, it is quite high. In economics, it is 90 points, in management - 88.8 points, in business informatics - 85 points, computer science and computer engineering - 80.3 points.

Speaking about new areas and programs at USUE, Elena Dvoryadkina focused on the reasons for their appearance. “New trends in the development of economy and society are creating demand from applicants for new specialties. On the other hand, Ural State University of Economics as a practice-oriented university takes into account the needs of employers,” she said.

In 2019, Ural State University of Economics offers new bachelor's programs: Information and Analytical Systems of Financial Monitoring, Engineering of Technological Equipment, Food Biotechnologies, Business Intelligence, and Digital Business.

Despite the attractiveness of new programs and specialties, the following training areas, in which our University is strong and competitive, are still traditionally in demand: Economics, Finance and Credit, Marketing, Management, Human Resource Management, Trading, Logistics, Service, Technology of catering products, and others.
