Ural Legal Week

Early October, there were held several events within the framework of the IX International Forum «Ural Legal Week» in Yekaterinburg. Students and teachers of Ural State University of Economics became active participants of the forum.

October 3, Interregional scientific and practical conference of undergraduates and master students «Enforcement and Protection of Constitutional Human and Civil Rights and Liberties» was held in the building of the Statutory Court of Sverdlovsk Oblast, dedicated to its 20th anniversary. The moderator was Vadim Panteleev, Ph.D. in Law, Chairman of the Statutory Court of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Associate Professor.

The following students of Ural State University of Economics took part in the conference:

? Ulyana Kosmach with the report «Constitutional and Legal Aspect of Entrepreneurs’ Rights Protection» (scientific supervisor — I.V. Soshnikova, Associate Professor at the Department of Public Law);
? Vitaly Rukoleev with the report «Environmental Crime: Problem of Realization of Russian Citizens’ Constitutional Rights to Favourable Environment» (scientific supervisor — I.V. Soshnikova, Associate Professor at the Department of Public Law);
? Rustam Sabitov with the report «Hearing of Cases by the Russian Constitutional Court on the Constitutionality of Laws on Complaints of Violation of Constitutional Rights and Liberties of Citizens» (scientific supervisor — I.V. Soshnikova, Associate Professor at the Department of Public Law);.
All participants of the conference were awarded certificates.

October 5, in the building of the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Oblast, there was a legal debate «Digital Economy. New Models of Russia’s Development». The debate moderator was Aleksandra Morozova, Associate Professor at the Department of Public Law. Independent experts were associated professors at the Department of Public Law Alexei Romanov and Irina Soshnikova, as well as members of the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Administration of Yekaterinburg and Children’s Rights Ombudsman of Sverdlovsk Oblast.

The debate was attended by teams from several universities of Sverdlovsk Oblast, including law students from Ural State University of Economics. During the debate, the students summarized the existing experience and presented models for the development of various spheres of public life in Russia with the use of new electronic digital technologies: they presented the models of organization and legal regulation of electronic legal proceedings and models of legal and social security of «smart urban environment». The issues of national security and protection of human rights in the context of the development of electronic digital technologies aroused much interest and lively discussion.

According to the results of the debate, the USUE team (team leaders were Inara Yagofarova and Oksana Kolotkina) won first place. The team included Olga Savinykh, Julia Kostousova, Irina Markova, Valeria Rybakina, Sophia Murnaeva, Ekaterina Vagner Anastasia Bishareva, Anna Antipova, and Igor Shabalin.
The second and third places were taken by the teams of the Ural Institute of Management (branch of RANEPA). All teams were awarded certificates of participants.

October 5, USUE law students participated in a public lecture delivered by Professor Igor Vydrin, chair of the Department of Constitutional and International Law of Ural Institute of Management, branch of RANEPA, «Peculiarities of the Electoral Law in the Russian Federation. Regularities and Deviations». The lecture was held at the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Oblast.

During the lecture, they discussed important issues of electoral law, the results of elections — 2016 to the State Duma and elections — 2017 of the governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast.

A lively discussion was aroused by matters concerning the role of information computer technologies in the electoral law, the merits, as well as the shortcomings of the State Automated System «Vybory». Besides, the students discussed some positions of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation on electoral law and interpretation of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

The lecturer distinguished the most active USUE law students: Yana Grigoreva, Elizaveta Eltsova, Vitaly Rukoleev, Vitaly Slovinsky, and Sherzot Fozilov.

USUE students and staff express gratitude to the organizers of the IX International Forum «Ural Legal Week» for the opportunity to participate and good organization of the forum.
