Acquaintance with the Motherland

Today, Ural State University of Economics was visited by a delegation of the Donetsk People’s Republic. It comprises demobilized students who defended their native land with arms in hands. Now they continue to study in Donbass and find out where else in Russia they could get a higher education.

Donbass students were welcomed by USUE Rector Yakov Silin, USUE Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy Roman Krasnov, USUE Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Teaching Methods and Quality of Training Dmitry Karkh, and USUE Vice-Rector for Research Viktor Kovalev. The delegation of Donbass consisted of 22 natives of Donetsk, Makeevka, Khartsyzsk, Amvrosievka, Shakhtersk, Novoazovsk, and Gorlovka.

They are students, volunteers and activists of universities, colleges and technical schools of Donbass. Some of them fought to liberate their native cities from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Others helped fellow countrymen who stayed in Donbass.

The head of the Donbass delegation, Anatoly Yushko himself, returned from the front line some time ago.

“On February 25, 2022, I voluntarily joined the army, having decided that I would defend the Motherland. They sent me to the Zaporozhye region. I began my service as a combat performer and finished the service as deputy regiment executive officer. Russia helped me resume studies at the same university where I had studied before leaving for the front. I returned to the third-year studies at Donetsk National University. I wish to continue studying, but I would not want to leave my hometown, so USUE attracts me as there is an opportunity for distance learning here,” Anatoly Yushko said.

USUE Rector Yakov Silin told young people on the opportunity of distance learning at our university: “Ural State University of Economics is young: it is only 55 years old. For the last 17 years, we have been practicing distance learning. Thanks to modern technologies, you can study at USUE from anywhere in the world. Disciplines under specialized educational programs are taught by professional teachers who can perfectly well convey information to the trainees.”
