IN THE URALS, STUDENT FORUM WILL BRING TOGETHER 16 THOUSAND PARTICIPANTS FROM HUNDRED COUNTRIES
The Eurasian Economic Youth Forum (EEYF) has long become an important item on the regional event agenda. Moreover, it has gone beyond the Urals and even Russia. The peculiarity of this event is that its initiator was Ural State University of Economics which, for 14 years, organizes it every spring. USUE Rector Yakov Silin explained why an educational institution needed such a “social burden” and unveiled with what the XIV EEYF (to be held on April 22-26) would surprise its guests and participants (Rossiyskaya Gazeta, 04/04/2024).
“For many years, EEYF has indeed been the main event for our university, and one of the most noticeable and significant one for the entire region. In summer, the famous INNOPROM exhibition traditionally takes place in Yekaterinburg: there they discuss industry, technology, prospects for the country’s industrial development, and international cooperation. At the forum, we have essentially the same topics but in education, with an outlook for many decades. After all, this is an association of active young people who, no matter how cliché it may sound, will live in the future, and the foundations of this future are being laid now,” the rector emphasizes.
What is the theme of the forum this year?
Yakov Silin: We enunciate it in advance, and it is always difficult not to make a mistake in the choice, because the world agenda is transforming. This year, the theme is: “Russia-Eurasia-the World. Integration-Development-Perspective.” I believe it gives full scope for scientific research and creativity for young people. What is Russia’s place in the world and in the Eurasian space? This is the most important question today.
