THERE ARE 3 YEARS OF PRODUCTIVE WORK AHEAD!

USUE rector Yakov Silin was elected as the chair of the Yekaterinburg Public Chamber. The members of the 7th convocation unanimously approved the appointment of the Honorary Citizen of the city (Regional newspaper, 14.03.2024).

On March 11, the first meeting of the Public Chamber of Yekaterinburg of the new convocation took place. The collegial body consists of 33 people. 11 members were chosen by Alexey Orlov, 11 were approved by City Duma deputies, and 11 were already elected by certain members. In this composition, the Public Chamber of Yekaterinburg will work for the benefit of the city and society for three years.

According to USUE rector Yakov Silin, the Public Chamber has formed five specialized commissions that will deal with the following issues: economics, social policy and healthcare, public services and amenities, construction, and the development of road infrastructure and transport.

“Fundamental issues will concern the life of Yekaterinburg: healthcare, education, the work of medical preventive institutions, schools, and kindergartens. Another issue that worries everyone is parking, traffic management, and public transport. Besides, there are questions related to executing the city budget: how it is replenished, how and for what specifically it is spent, and to what extent the budget reflects the needs of city residents. There are also some issues of new micro-regions’ development and transport accessibility. We will deal with problems related to patriotic education: how to help participants in the Special Military Operation, and their families.”
