Putting into circulation new banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles will not result in an escalation of inflation.

This was stated by Elvira Nabiullina, the Russian Central Bank Governor. At the same time, she noted that the use of 100 and 1000 ruble banknotes would be gradually reduced. According to the Doctor of Economics Maxim Maramygin, the introduction of new banknotes would not bring negative consequences. The last time the nomenclature of banknotes was changed in 2006. Then, banknotes with a nominal value of 5,000 rubles were put into circulation.
