At present,  Russians are rather wary of a new card because they do not have enough information about it. Many are simply annoyed by the obligation, so the introduction of the national payment system was tagged by its potential consumers as “peace-enforcement operation.” (This is a pun: in Russian “Mir” means “peace”)

”Of course, meanwhile Mir cannot be regarded as a purely market product," said Yevgeny Strelnikov, assistant professor at the USUE  Department of Financial Markets and Banking.  “The national payment system is important for the financial security of the country.  It is abnormal that in Russia there was no national payment product.  Everyone clearly realized this three years ago, during the period of imposing sanctions.  But if we consider Mir from the standpoint of a consumer, it still has a lot of flaws - the national payment card has yet to prove itself in the market.
