The Ural Chess Festival-2017 was summed up in Yekaterinburg

Several chess tournaments were held during the festival. The best players were determined in the open championships of the Sverdlovsk region in classic and fast chess among men and women, in children's regional Cup among boys and girls under 10 and 13 years old, and in the open regional championship among boys and girls under 19 years old. In total, 14 sets of medals were played. The total prize fund of the festival was 570 thousand rubles. The competitions were held at USUE.

The unconditional heroine of the festival was the most titled chess player of the Sverdlovsk region, the former world champion among veterans, an international grandmaster Lyudmila Saunina. In both types of competitive program among women she showed the best result, first winning the title of champion in classic chess, and then repeating her own achievement in the fast chess tournament.

It is interesting that each time at the finish Saunina was followed up by Diana Samigullina, who became a two-time vice-champion of the festival in the women's standings.
