February 28, from 19:00 to 21:00, at the B. Yeltsin presidential center (Boris Yeltsin Street, 3a) an open debate "What shall we destroy and what shall we build?" (#ЯзаЭКСПО) will be held.
Young people from all Yekaterinburg universities will discuss city development prospects until 2025 in an open dialogue. The principal feature of this event will be the absence of guests, officials, experts, and representatives of political parties.
The purpose of the event is an open youth discussion on changing the Yekaterinburg image within the framework of the city's participation in the competition for the right to hold World EXPO-2025.
Among the issues to be discussed are: whether the new generation is ready to abandon the habits of the past for the sake of the future, whether it is ready to demolish 19th century buildings, whether it is ready to make a choice between constructing a metro or a high-speed subway, what is to be built instead of the demolished TV tower, and others.
As a result of the open dialogue, the participants will adopt Festival Theses of Yekaterinburg Youth. They will be forwarded to the leadership of the official EXPO-2025 bid committee and to the Sverdlovsk region Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev.
