In 2011, in connection with the establishment of the Institute of Law and launching of the main educational program in the area of "Jurisprudence", the pre-existing Department of Law was divided into four departments. One of the successors of the Department of Law was the Department of Public Law, chaired by Assistant Professor A. Romanov. The department carries out educational, methodical and research activities and arranges the educational process in the area "Jurisprudence", training major "Legal support of state and municipal bodies ". The Department of Public Law is a degree-granting department which conducts full-time and extramural training.

A key point of training bachelors in jurisprudence is the extensive use of innovative and information technologies in teaching (information and legal bases "Consultant-Plus" and "Garant", a portal of electronic educational resources, business games, excursions to judicial and law enforcement bodies, case studies, etc.).

The main competitive advantage for bachelors is the opportunity to use wide international relations of USUE (participation in international conferences, summer schools abroad, student exchange, internships in European countries, international scholarship programs, etc.). Considerable place in the curriculum is given to the study of a professional foreign language in the field of jurisprudence, which is important in the context of globalization of society increasing the competitiveness of graduates in the labor market.

Vocation-related subjects are taught by teachers of four law departments, while at the Department of Public Law, the teachers combine their academic activity with research, and many of them have direct legal experience in government and local government bodies.

Teachers of the department take part not only in academic activities but also conduct active educational work with students

Students of the department have the opportunity to undertake practical training at:

  • Executive bodies of the federal and regional authorities (regional government, departments and offices), the Federal Tax Service, the Federal Customs Service, the Federal Bailiff Service, the Ministry of Justice;
  • Law enforcement agencies (prosecutor's office, police);
  • Judicial authorities;
  • Bar and notarial system;
  • Local governments: city and district administrations.
