November 7, Ural State University of Economics hosted the scientific and practical forum “Urban Economy: the Quality of Life in the 21st Century”. The forum was attended by the managers of the Ministry of Energy and Housing and Communal Services of the Sverdlovsk region and representatives of municipalities.
Opening the forum, the rector of Ural State University of Economics Yakov Silin noted that everyone is interested in a serious conversation on the topic of urban economy: the Ministry of Energy and Housing and Communal Services of the Sverdlovsk region, representatives of municipalities working in this field, the University, and the Department of Municipal Economy, where they train specialists for housing and communal services.
The sessions of the forum discussed how the urban economy was being built in each municipality including such a large city as Yekaterinburg, and how the problems of housing and communal services were being solved.

The estimated amount of financing for the development and modernization of communal infrastructure in 2019 is 10 billion rubles. These funds are distributed to heat supply, water supply, and sanitation facilities in 26 municipalities.
At the forum, the specialists and experts examined, in whole or in part, most of the complex issues of the current period, shared their existing practices, and identified new targets to which we should strive.
