USUE RECTOR YAKOV SILIN: “IN FACT, OUR COUNTRY SAFEGUARDED THE WORLD!”

June 24, Russia will host a military parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in World War II. This year, due to restrictive measures related to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual solemn procession was postponed. However, the new date has important symbolic and historical significance for all Russians. It was on June 24, 1945, when, by order of Joseph Stalin, on Red Square in Moscow, the first Victory Parade was solemnly held, which became the tradition uniting the Russian people.

Ural State University of Economics honors veterans and home front workers who forged Great Victory by sweat of their brow. USUE rector Yakov Silin stressed the importance of cherishing this memory and passing it on to future generations: “In fact, our country safeguarded the world, thereby ensuring the future of our state and giving many countries the opportunity to develop for decades. It is the Soviet people and the armed forces of the USSR to whom the key merit in Victory in that Great War belongs. During the troops parade 1945, standards and banners of Nazi Germany were thrown down next to the mausoleum. 75 years after, the significance of that Victory did not fade, and every year we celebrate it with extreme reverence.”
