Oh, wonderful, wonderful Yekaterinburg!
Studying at the USUE preparatory faculty lasts 10 months. It is not so easy to get to know the city really during this time. Where to start, what places to visit: all this is not obvious to a foreign student who is in Yekaterinburg for the first time. To acquaint students with the Ural city, the preparatory faculty conducts a number of excursions for students every year.
In October, USUE students visited the Museum of Architecture and Design, the Museum of the Holy Royal Family and the Opera House. Also, an excursion around the center of Yekaterinburg was organized for students from other countries. Together with the teachers, the students walked along Weiner Street, 1905 Square, Plotinka, Literary Quarter.
In the Museum of Architecture and Design at the exhibition "Demidovs in the Urals" students were shown the manuscripts of original documents and the correspondence of representatives of a well-known family with the tsar. In the Museum of the Holy Royal Family, the students were told about the biography of Nicholas II and were shown the household items of the Romanovs. At the Opera House, USUE foreign students watched the ballet Giselle, and on a tour of the center learned the history of the appearance of the most famous sights in the city: the monument to Tatishchev and de Gennin, Sevastyanov's house, the Cosmos cinema and concert hall and the Temple on the Blood.

The excursions were attended by about 80 students of the preparatory faculty. These are students from Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and China.
Visiting cultural locations in Yekaterinburg gives students an idea of the Ural city, acquaints them with the history of Russia and contributes to the active practice of the Russian language.
