Let's teach Russian!

USUE held an online meeting with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (Sri Lanka) concerning the establishment of a Russian Language Center on the island. The details of the large-scale project were discussed by the acting USUE rector Roman Krasnov and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Sri Lankan university, Shirantha Heenkenda.

The Russian Language Center will contribute to the development of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

“Ural State University of Economics is pleased with the fruitful dialogue that is developing with representatives of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The opening of the Russian Language Center in Sri Lanka is a large-scale and challenging project, but thanks to well-coordinated teamwork, we will certainly turn the idea into reality!” emphasized Roman Krasnov.

Today, the project plan for the Russian Language Center is at the final stage of approval by the Ministry of Finance of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Once approved, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura will start creating a website and socials’ account to attract students.

Both countries’ top leaderships are interested in developing cooperation in education. Thus, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to Russia, Ms. Janitha Liyanage, voiced support for the opening of the Russian Language Center. In October, she visited Ural State University of Economics.
