Future foreign trade specialists covered Export Marathon

USUE students can already be entrusted with an export deal: their cases, at the request of enterprises, took second place. 

September 8, 2021, the annual Export Marathon forum took place at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Yekaterinburg. The key topic for discussion this year was new efficient tools for the work of export-oriented companies. The event was organized as part of the Small and Medium Entrepreneurship and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives national project by the Export Support Center of the Sverdlovsk region based on the Sverdlovsk Regional Fund for the Support of Entrepreneurship in cooperation with the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The purpose of the event is to familiarize foreign trade operators with new economic realities and requirements for the export products supply.

At the plenary session, they touched upon the positioning of Ural exporters in the world market and their place in global value chains and identified new benchmarks for the growth of regional exports in the context of digital transformation. Besides, master classes and pitch sessions were held for the participants of the event.

In addition to the business session, Export Marathon included a Battle of Future Foreign Trade Specialists or Whom to Entrust an Export Deal, which was in the form of student teams presenting solutions to cases on foreign economic activity offered by the enterprises of the Sverdlovsk region.

Six teams from four Yekaterinburg universities took part in the student battle. Ural State University of Economics was represented by a team of students of the Department of World Economy and Foreign Economic Activity: Alena Golubeva (EK-19-3 group), Ekaterina Grebenyuk (EK-19-3 group), Lada Drannikova (EK-19-3 group), and Anastasia Ivanova (EK-19-2 group) under the guidance of associate professor of the Department, Olga Plyusnina. The students took 2nd place in the team competition. However, the main result of the event for USUE students was the opportunity to become acquainted with actual participants in foreign economic activity - potential employers, exchange experiences with students from other universities, and try their hand at solving problem situations.
