The more difficult, the more interesting! USUE joined the Race of Heroes

Last weekend, at the Sverdlovsky training ground, Race of Heroes, a mass military sports game, took place. The project, which originated in 2013 and annually brought together thousands of participants from different cities of Russia, was held on tracks of various lengths over rough terrain with obstacles. Unafraid of torrid weather, the students of Ural State University of Economics for the first time joined the national race.

The participants of the team race overcame a cross-country track 8.5 km long, including 35 obstacles. The students had to wallow in the mud, crawl under military equipment and barbed wire, get abrasions and bruises, clear heights, lift weights, run, jump, swim, and much more, but everyone was happy.

“This year, we have assembled a team for the Race of Heroes for the first time. Many of the students are participants in the last regional DOSAAF Day of Russia. Our motto was: “The more difficult, the more interesting!” Each of us had to overcome the fear of heights, water, claustrophobia, and other personal fears. Stages and obstacles were quite complex, but thanks to the team spirit we coped with them, and each member of the team was on his best behavior," Sergey Voronin commented.

“I got a huge rush of adrenaline, especially on obstacles where I had to rise to a great height. In the final, I had to jump from a three-meter diving tower into the pool, which was probably the worst thing for me. After such tests true friendship begins: singly we would not have coped with this track," Polina Shirokova shared her impressions.

“The tests were designed in such a way that the interest only increased throughout the distance. The weather was hot; it was an endurance exercise for me. I ran in the individual competition in AGE 18-29 category. The track was cross-country, but thanks to 5 years of experience in rock climbing, I was able to compete with the strongest athletes in this area. Training with instructor Sergey Shelapugin and well-formed plan of training contributed to my honorable 3rd place," added Mir Bustonov.

The USUE team covered the entire track in 2.5 hours and is already planning preparations for a new race. Those wishing to join the next season can write to the head of the USUE Volunteer Company Polina Shirokova to 89226026028.
