What unites science and faith?

USUE Rector Yakov Silin took part in the plenary session of the XII All-Russian Scientific and Theological Conference “Church. Theology. History”, dedicated to the memory of the new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church.

The participants were welcomed by Metropolitan of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye Evgeniy. The archpastor noted that the conference is an important platform for discussing theological issues.

“We see that today the conference brings together participants from different regions of our Fatherland. And these are not only church researchers. An impressive percentage of the speakers are representatives of the secular scientific community who show a genuine keen interest in the study of church history and theology,” said Metropolitan Evgeniy of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye.

The conference was attended by 173 speakers, among them 26 doctors of science, 51 candidates of science, 39 clergy and monks from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The plenary session was attended by teachers, graduate students and undergraduates of theological and secular educational institutions, specialists in the field of church history and theological disciplines.

“There is a lot of debate in society about how to combine science and theology. I am sure that there can be no contradictions between these directions!” - emphasized USUE Rector Yakov Silin.

The work of the scientific and theological forum in Yekaterinburg will end on February 11.
