Business meeting in Sri Lanka

Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy, Roman Krasnov, while on a working visit to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, met with officials of Rossotrudnichestvo. The parties discussed the last details of the opening of the Russian Language Center, which will take place tomorrow.

The meeting was held with the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Sri Lanka, Maria Popova. The parties discussed the opening of the Center, some issues of international cooperation, and the interaction of USUE with universities of the island country.

As Roman Krasnov noted, the project to develop the Russian language in Sri Lanka became possible thanks to the assistance and support of Rossotrudnichestvo. Maria Popova personally participated in the preparations for the opening of the Center. 

The principal aim of the international educational project is to prepare future students for studying at Russian universities and to help everyone who wants to engage oneself with Russia. After studying at the Center, Sri Lankans will be able to enter any Russian university and receive an education in any field.

The opening will take place tomorrow at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The project to establish Russian Language Centers is of great importance for Ural State University of Economics in developing cooperation for education with foreign countries. Representatives of different countries repeatedly noted the growing interest of the local population in learning the Russian language. To date, the Russian Language Center is already operating in Egypt.
