Excursion of USUE students to Beloyarsk nuclear power plant
December 5, students of Ural State University of Economics visited Beloyarsk NPP as part of the project "I am Learning Economic Activity". The excursion allowed students to become acquainted with energy as a kind of economic activity.
The tour was held on the new fourth power unit. The students learned the principles of nuclear energy production, the history of nuclear reaction, the history of the power plant and its development, as well as new technological solutions. The guide Vladimir Buchelnikov paid much attention to the safety of production for residents of Zarechny and the Sverdlovsk region, as well as to the security of the station in case of terrorist actions. Among other things, the students became acquainted with the professions of power engineers.

We were told about the further development of the power plant: new fuel for the reactor and the construction of new buildings for the continued operation of the nuclear power plant. I liked it very much."
Dmitry Kondrashin, "The trip was unforgettable. I learned a lot for myself. Most of all I remember the model of the reactor. It showed the working principle of an atomic reactor. Besides, I was impressed by the turbine shop."
The USUE Department of Competition Law and Antimonopoly Regulation expresses its sincere gratitude to the management of Beloyarsk NPP and Vladimir Buchelnikov for the excellent organization, interesting and informative excursion on science-intensive, high-tech and very important production in the life of the region.

Beloyarsk NPP plays an important role in the life support and development of our region. Electricity is the whale on which all production relations stand today and which makes a person's life comfortable, interesting, and diverse. In 2017, Beloyarsk NPP produced 9470 million kWh of electricity. In the town of Zarechny, it provides 100% buildings with heating and 70% with hot water supply.
Beloyarsk NPP is the only nuclear power plant in Russia with power units of different types. At present two power units are operating at Beloyarsk NPP: BN-600 and BN-800. These are the world's largest power units with fast neutron reactors. In terms of reliability and safety, the "fast" reactor is one of the best nuclear reactors in the world. The possibility of further expansion of the Beloyarsk NPP with power unit No. 5 with a fast 1200 MW nuclear reactor is being considered.
