“Our cooperation with Sri Lanka has just begun, but it is already yielding good results. We agreed to open a Russian Language Center at the university so that young people could study Russian and get acquainted with our traditions and culture. I would like to express special gratitude to the diplomats of both countries for their contribution to this project. Our specialists from Rossotrudnichestvo have done a great job to develop the Center. I am sure that this initiative will help strengthen cooperation between our countries and give young people the opportunity to get acquainted, study, and become familiar with a common culture. I am sure that our programs and joint work will be successful and promising,” USUE Rector Yakov Silin addressed the participants.

This is the first joint educational project of USUE and Sri Lanka. It took the parties a year of fruitful work to implement it. The Center was opened with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo.

“I believe that the Russian Language Center we have created is a contribution to the common cause of popularizing the Russian language abroad. This step can be of great importance in developing cultural ties and mutual understanding between different countries. I am sure the students of the programs will receive high-quality training of the Russian language. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo and personally to Maria Popova for their support in the process of opening the Center. Thanks to the efforts of both parties, the project was successfully implemented,” Roman Krasnov, USUE Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy, congratulated the opening of the Center.
Fifteen Sri Lankans will undergo training at the Centre.

The Russian Language Centre operates within the Memorandum of Understanding on additional general education programs in Russian and English, which was signed this April on the sidelines of the XIV Eurasian Economic Youth Forum. The principal aim of the international educational project is to prepare future students for studying at Russian universities and to help everyone who wants to engage oneself with Russia. After studying at the Center, Sri Lankans will be able to enter any Russian university and receive an education in any field.

The project to establish Russian Language Centers is of great importance for Ural State University of Economics in developing cooperation with foreign countries. To-date, 20 students from Sri Lanka are studying at USUE.
