Games for the mind: chess players of USUE and the city of Yevpatoria competed in an online tournament

USUE hosted an online chess competition between athletes from our University, Yevpatoria, Kamensk-Uralsky, and Serov.

Today, for the first time, at USUE, an online tournament was held with a city located thousands of kilometers from Yekaterinburg - Yevpatoria. Rector of Ural State University of Economics, Yakov Silin, being at the studio of school No. 17 in Yevpatoria, greeted all the participants of the meeting:

“I would like to thank everyone for their assistance and organization of the online tournament, especially the head of the city of Yevpatoria - Olesya Viktorovna Kharitonenko! Today we signed an agreement on cooperation with Yevpatoria, including in the development of chess art. I wish you all success! I hope that chess play will disappoint nobody”.

Besides, before the start of the tournament, the participants heard greeting words from Anatoly Karpov, State Duma deputy, multiple world chess champion: “I welcome you at the yet another online chess tournament held under the auspices of Ural State University of Economics”. Yuri Biktuganov, regional Minister of Education and Youth Policy, and Leya Garifullina, world chess champion, and, from this year, a student of USUE College, wished success to the chess players in the upcoming tournament.
