Traditional USUE actions in honor of the Victory Day have passed in online mode

On the eve of Victory Day, the poems of Konstantin Simonov and Alexander Tvardovsky sound at the University dormitory. They were read by students who came from China, Iraq, and Egypt. The song of Vladimir Vysotsky "He has not returned from the battle" was performed by Ferdinan from Indonesia. The young man learned about the feat of Soviet people during history classes at school. It is then he decided that he should come to Russia.

Ferdinan, a student: I love the history of Russia. It is fine. Today is Victory Day. Glory to Russia and freedom. I am proud of it". The Victory Waltz swept away the people of Russia and neighboring countries. The Victory Waltz project was launched six years ago at Ural State University of Economics. This year, the campaign has conquered virtual space and gained international recognition. Every year on May 9, students dance in the square in front of the University. However, this time, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the action is being held for the first time in an online format. People of 30 cities of Russia and 6 neighboring countries took part in it.
Yakov Silin, Rector of Ural State University of Economics: Taking into account the special conditions, we traditionally hold the Victory Waltz. More than 40 universities across Russia and even abroad joined it. We train many foreign students from 56 countries in the world. Joining our culture, traditions, lifestyle, they participate in events, read poetry, and sing songs.
